ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Integrate various components and technologies used in Hard Disk Drive (HDD) to achieve higher capacity and highly reliable magnetic recording systems.
• Innovate and develop new HDD technologies to improve yield, capacity and reliability.
• Collaborate with functional teams in validating and integrating new HDD technologies.
• Collaborate with team members on component evaluations to improve design.
• Develop scripts to test and collect data from HDD.
• Support failure analysis to root cause yield issue.
• Setup process test input and parameters to optimize yield and reliability.
• Perform data analysis of the test data.

REQUIRED:

• Bachelor degree or higher in electronic, microelectronics, electrical engineering, communication or related discipline.
• Programming experience in one or more languages: Python, R, C, C++.

SKILLS:

• Knowledge in magnetic recording is preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good written, verbal and presentation skills.

• The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
• You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.
