What you'll do
Expectations and Tasks:
- Support the sales and finance teams in structuring commercial proposals and contractual documents, especially during quarter-end periods.
- Enforce compliance with SAP Group revenue recognition policies and internal accounting standards.
- Actively communicate and collaborate with field teams and other finance departments to align on revenue recognition issues, ensuring revenue forecast accuracy.
- Review and approve "Deal Approval Requests" that summarize the terms and conditions of commercial proposals and contracts before they are submitted to customers.
- Coordinate with theRegional revenue recognition team and SAP Corporate functions as necessary to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Review cloud, software and maintenance contracts to ensure accurate accounting of transactions, focusing on allocation of revenue across various categories and timing of recognition.
- Prepare accounting memorandums for complex and significant transactions as required.
- Identify month-end revenue adjustments and ensure proper revenue accounting using internal revenue accounting tools.
- Stay up-to-date with revenue recognition policies and regulations as laid out by SAP Corporate.
- Spread appropriate basic knowledge of revenue recognition matters to the business and other Deal Support functions.
What you bring
- The role requires the candidate to be fluent in English
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in revenue recognition or a finance-related role, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Experience with one of the big audit firms is an advantage
- Experience in software revenue recognition and knowledge of SAP systems and processes is a strong plus
- Strong understanding of IFRS15 accounting rules, specifically regarding cloud and software
- Knowledge of basic legal concepts
- Ability to interact and communicate with various stakeholders (sales, operations, finance community, auditors, etc.)
- Strong communication skills, ability to articulate point of view in a clear and assertive fashion
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Meet your team
- The Senior Revenue Recognition Specialist will report directly to the Regional Revenue Recognition Manager and will have a strong dotted line into the local Chief Finance Officer of the Market Unit. The role is part of the larger Global Commercial Finance Organization.
