Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate Degree or Equivalent International Degree
    • OR Completion of a Legal Apprenticeship.
  • Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
  • 7+ years experience as a practicing attorney at a law firm or an in-house legal department
    • OR equivalent practice of law.
  • Legal experience in the following areas: environmental, land use, and/or real estate.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with municipal authorities, regional and national governments, and local communities.
  • Desire and ability to work as part of a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Keen business sense, ability to think creatively and strategically
  • The ability to deliver impact through superior collaboration.
  • Results orientation, customer focus, a commitment to providing the highest quality client service, and a desire to develop trusted advisor relationships with business clients.

Responsibilities
  • Leading strategic support for zoning, planning and permitting work, enabling the delivery of Microsoft’s datacenter projects. This includes engagement with consultants, local authorities, and government stakeholders across multi-site and multi-country projects.
  • Providing regional support for CO+I’s environmental permitting program in its Americas datacenter facilities and projects.
  • Partnering with the CO+I business team to implement a research and engagement strategy that identifies and establishes plans for key risks and opportunities, including outreach to local authorities, neighboring communities, and local stakeholders.
  • Partner with Microsoft’s Government Affairs teams to address policies and regulations relevant for datacenters.
  • Collaborating with team members within and across organizational boundaries, including engineering teams, finance, marketing teams, government affairs and public relations.
  • Developing trusted advisor relationships with business clients and executives.
