IBM is looking for an experienced tax professional with a strong background in Philippine Taxes for the position of Country Tax Manager. The Philippines Country Tax Manager will report to the ASEAN Regional Tax Manager. The position is based in Metro Manila.

The Philippines Country Tax Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring IBM Philippines’ compliance with all taxation laws and regulations, including timely and accurate tax filings and payments (i.e. corporate income tax, withholding tax, indirect tax as well as local taxes), and ensuring appropriate tax positions are adopted.
  • Tax Authority relationship management, including managing and handling of tax audits, preparing responses, and liaising with tax authorities on relevant tax issues as required.
  • Ensuring accurate recording of Income Taxes and Indirect Taxes for USGAAP and local GAAP Reporting purposes.
  • Providing practical tax solutions and tax advisory support to IBM Philippines’ Business Units and Enterprise Support Functions, including working cross-functionally with IBM Legal, Treasury, Accounting, Finance & Operations teams to meet IBM’s Global Tax strategic objectives.
  • Managing tax legislation and controversial developments in the Philippines, including ensuring legislative and judicial developments are assessed and communicated to internal stakeholders, and supporting lobbying efforts.
  • Find and implement opportunities for process improvement in IBM’s tax procedures.
  • Work closely with and support IBM’s Corporate Headquarters and Global Tax Team in researching, analyzing, and implementing tax planning opportunities, mergers & acquisition activities, and various internal reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with IBM’s Tax Controls Framework and Tax Policies.
  • Own and manage relationships with external service providers such as tax and legal advisors as required.



Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Minimum 10 years relevant tax experience, with extensive Philippine direct and indirect tax compliance and advisory experience including managing tax compliance for multiple legal entities, in-depth knowledge of Philippines corporate income taxes, indirect taxes, transfer pricing, and a working knowledge of employment taxes.
• Candidate should have strong skills and background in tax advocacy, compliance & tax operations with relevant Big 4 experience. In-house tax experience within a large multinational enterprise is an advantage.
• A hands-on approach, self-starter with attention to detail and learning agility is required.
• Having a commercial outlook, strong business acumen and an awareness of risk is required.
• Strong teaming and communication skills with a collaborative mindset is required to continuously seek opportunities for process optimization and solution implementation.
