The role requires a mix of traditional research skills such as analytical thinking, attention to detail,ability to multitask andthrive in a fast-paced environment, along with an entrepreneurial mindset of being a self-starter, and thinking creatively. Excellent communication and presentation skills are a must, as the role requires both internal and external client dialog. The candidate should also be comfortable with a variety of technical skills such as manipulating SQL databases, coding and handling big data. In addition, since this is a publishing role, the ability to articulate concepts into impactful written summaries is required.
Tasks:
- Create analysis using SQL, Bloomberg, Excel and VBA/other coding languages.
- Query, insert and manipulate large amounts of data using SQL.
- Update files, run models and develop trade ideas based on market dislocations.
- Regularly interact with internal and external clients to articulate the team’s views and respond to client and sales/trading requests.
- Independently follow market news and current events, filter relevant information, develop analysis, and write impactful reports delivering a clear message.
- Help the senior analyst in publishing daily, weekly and monthly research reports on corporate credit markets as well as larger thematic pieces.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Financial Engineering or equivalent years of experience.
- In depth knowledge of SQL, Excel and VBA.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Native proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and exercising strong quality control over their own work.
- Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks.
- Thrive in a fast paced environment while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Prior experience in fixed income, and/or handling big data in Python, Matlab or equivalent languages is a big plus.
