In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the critical operations of the datacenter, ensuring uptime, reliability, and performance. You will work with monitoring systems, you'll troubleshoot issues and implement solutions to optimize datacenter functionality.

You will support and maintain our infrastructure and hardware serving our SaaS Platform in co-located datacenters located across Chicago.

How will your day-to-day look like?

  • Perform equipment installations – data center infrastructure components (servers, switches, storage, PDUs, network equipment), while ensuring proper spacing, cable management, cooling/airflow, and power distribution.
  • Closely monitor infrastructure (servers/Network/Storage health) and perform Equinix maintenances to prevent failures and service degradation.
  • Keep track of ongoing projects/tickets/alerts in an organized and timely manner, with self-driven attitude.
  • Work with global Operations teams on troubleshooting and resolution of problems, including hardware failures and physical connectivity problems.
  • Maintain asset inventory – documentation, diagrams, spreadsheets, spare equipment, ports and sockets availability etc.
  • Perform all shipping and receiving duties with DCs Logistics including RMA activities, including creation of service requests with vendors when parts are required and perform equipment troubleshooting.
  • Automate day to day DCOps related tasks: implementing automated monitoring systems, using CM tools to automate deployment, automating new servers provisioning, automating documentation and reporting processes, etc.
  • Maintain impeccable documentation around our datacenter configuration.
  • Follow change management process and participate in off hours change windows in co-ordination with multiple teams like Network, Server, Storage.
  • Perform capacity planning for the Rack Space, Power, Cooling including the availability of Network/Fiber switch ports and other consumables like Cables, SFPs, PDUs.
  • Provide 24x7 support as needed and must be willing to participate in on call duties.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in datacenter operations or a related IT role (such as Sys Admin / Networking Engineering / Server Technician), that included troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Experience in datacenter infrastructure management tools, monitoring systems, server hardware, networking equipment, operation systems (Windows, Linux) and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience in scripting for automation tasks (such as Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of datacenter operations, including power, cooling, and cabling.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills along with Automation expertise.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in non-standard hours, including nights and weekends, to support 24/7 datacenter operations.
  • Ability to work in a datacenter environment with potential exposure to loud noises, heavy lifting, and varying temperatures.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with database management systems.
  • Experience with Dell tools (for storage) and Cisco tools (for Networking).
  • Experience from an enterprise company, working in global teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
