Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations for multiple teams and several unit supervisors and ensure teams meet performance and quality expectations
  • Manage staff resource allocation while assisting with the development and oversight of the budget
  • Resolve complex and highly variable issues with significant departmental impact
  • Evaluate performance and make recommendations for training/development, pay increases, hiring, terminations and other personnel actions
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining workflow standards
  • Contribute to the objectives of the entire Transaction Services function
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of experience in a related senior level role with experience in trade / cash operations and management
  • Proven experience in creating and implementing processes that result in improved business performance
  • Effective verbal and written communication and analytical skills


Education:

  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master’s degree preferred

Description of Role:

The Core Trade Operations Head is responsible of Core Trade Operations, reporting to the Mexico Trade Operations head. The Mexico Core Trade Ops Head will manage the processes locally and through the various vendors in Tampa, Colombia and Asian CSC’s in partnership with the Trade Latam cluster CSC.

Managing human, processing and system resources to maximize quality and quantity of service while managing cost-efficiency

Take a leadership role in exploring and developing key themes within Core Trade Operations such as re-engineering through LEAN, optimization, centralization, RPA, straight-through-processing and outsourcing, leveraging organizational resources within and outside TTS Client Operations to drive and implement these initiatives

Maintain a strong risk & control and compliance environment throughout the TTS Client Operations organization that can rapidly adapt to changes in the regulatory and compliance environment; proactively escalating addressing all issues timely and competently through the drafting, implementation, and tracking of relevant Corrective Action Plans (CAPs)

Maintain permanent controls readiness, an effective control and compliance environment in all departments

Support regional and country financial and resource goals and actively delivering on Trade Operations expenses and FTE’s productivity

Liaise with Production & Development support technology teams to resolve exceptions found during daily monitoring and to seek any enhancements/ systemic changes, if any due to customer requirement.

Understand, troubleshoot, and quickly solution complex queries that can run over multiple platforms.

Strong partnerships developed with Regional and in-country O&T, Product, Relationship Management and Ops Controls

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be a strong manager with significant experience in managing and understanding organization at a country or regional level
  • Superior people leadership/management skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure and able to manage effectively in a matrix environment
  • Excellent communicator (written and oral),fluent in English and Spanish is a must
  • Proven leader by clients and staff with the ability to define strategy and provide inspiration
  • Excellent prioritization, organization, coordination and time management skills

  • 7 to 12 years’ experience in relevant field with at least 5 year on Trade Services Operations experience.
  • Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of the rules and regulations that apply to LC's -ISP98, UCP600, ISBP
  • Experience in process improvement. Good knowledge of process, productivity & must be knowledgeable in system
  • In-depth knowledge of Core Trade products / Processes and operation activities aligned to delivering them as well as general understanding of TTS Technology
  • Ability to quickly understand local legal and regulatory requirements, exposure to regional/global regulatory requirements, and a strong aptitude to design process and people to comply with them
  • Experience in risk & control (including significant experience in identifying risks, control issues, implementing corrective actions and best practices), quality management and re-engineering
  • Strong interpersonal skills (as relates to various backgrounds as the programs will fundamentally aim at changing the day-to-day operational footprints)
  • Proven track record in Operations process assessment and knowledge

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Monthly Business Review calls with key stakeholders: Product and Operations
  • Transparent & effective communication with business partners and Seniors in the branches (Operations/Technology/Product)
  • Create and implement timelines, communications, trackers, presentations & methodology
  • Validation of activation and initiation documentation received and approved
  • Identify and communicate areas of risk detected during activation to Sr. Mgmt
  • Communicate effectively with technology support teams when system issues occur
  • Provide internal training on platforms and processes as needed
  • Provide transactional processing support for Core Trade Operations
  • Daily Management of in-process, pending & service related activities, ensuring high quality processing service to our customers and internal partners, for Core Trade
  • Responsible to ensure a smooth, error free process flow
  • Responsible to develop procedures and keep changes tracking accordingly
  • Perform within departmental procedures & compliance standards in order to minimize losses to the Firm
  • Execute moderate to complex transactions (threshold approval)
  • Assist with approval processing in the unit, assist with special reports & projects as needed

  • Identify, initiate and execute process improvements
  • Create and/or approve procedures to support process enhancements
  • Focus on controls, customer service and quality
  • Ensure risk is accounted for, considered and approved
  • Integration of new products
  • Support Senior Project Manager by understanding the product, identifying strategic partners, ensuring legal and product needs are fulfilled
  • Track different projects with due diligence: timeline and budget
