Your key responsibilities
As a data protection lawyer, you can expect to spend your time managing the successful delivery of legal advisory projects related to data protection laws and regulations, particularly the GDPR, UAE PDPL, and KSA PDPL.
You will also be responsible for independently drafting, reviewing, and negotiating data protection agreements and policies such as privacy and cookies policies, data processing agreements, data sharing agreements, data protection frameworks, and governance manuals. This can include adjacent topics such as data protection impact assessments, compliance rules, data breach response & management, and keeping up with changes in data protection laws and regulations.
You may also be asked to provide advice related to data transfer rules and regulations across multiple jurisdictions, advise clients regarding hosting and data localization requirements, and deliver training and awareness programs for the client’s employees.
Skills and attributes for success
As such, you should have a solid understanding of data protection regulations and the ability to provide expert legal advice to ensure compliance with these laws, especially those related to GDPR, UAE PDPL, DIFC and ADGM data protection laws, and KSA PDPL.
