As an Infrastructure Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you utilize strong knowledge combining software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions to operations problems. Much of our support and software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building more stable infrastructure, and reducing repeated work through automation in our SDDC (VMware vCF) environments. You will join a team of curious problem solvers with a diverse set of perspectives who are thinking big and taking risks. Job responsibilities
- Applies technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope, with a focus on improving the data and systems running at scale, and ensures end to end monitoring of applications
- Resolves most nuances and determines appropriate escalation path
- Executes conventional approaches to build or break down technical problems
- Drives the daily activities supporting the standard capacity process applications
- Partners with application and infrastructure teams to identify potential capacity risks and govern remediation statuses
- Considers upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications
- Be accountable for making significant decisions for a project consisting of multiple technologies and applications
- Drive mitigation and RCA to help in problem management
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Strong knowledge of one or more infrastructure disciplines such as hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, and performance assessments
- Proficiency in service-level changes to a system and troubleshooting components with VMware vCF environments.
- Proficiency in VMware NSX(T) troubleshooting and strong networking background, with good knowledge of related protocols and technologies (e.g. BGP, VRF, MPLS, IP, TCP, UDP), as applied to a data center context
- Experienced as a VMware ESXi system engineer in an Enterprise class environment with VMware vSAN.
- Prior experience in both Systems Engineering and Software Development
- Experience in Modern compute technologies (e.g., virtualization, cloud, containers).
- Familiar with Agile development process and automated testing
- Experience working across large infrastructure environments and distributed across multiple data centers
- Experience in Systems and Application monitoring systems and instrumentation
- Strong background with VMware suite (vSphere 7.0 and up).
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Ability to execute within a customer-centric environment
- Experience in end-to-end systems automation and orchestration using VMware vRO and vRA is a strong plus for this role
- Expertise in product and infrastructure support
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills with clear communication
