What You’ll Do
  • Provide expertise on utility and ISO/RTO transmission and distribution interconnection requirements and industry standards for telemetry or data capture (fault recording, sequence of events recording, meter data)
  • Gain in-depth product knowledge on Tesla energy storage system telemetry and data collection capabilites
  • Participate and represent Tesla in national, regional, wholesale market and utility standards committees or industry working groups and formulate clear and concise feedback to external stakeholders and policy makers
  • Collect input from a diverse group of stakeholders (customer, sales, service, firmware, hardware, etc.) and distill into user stories and define clear requirements for software and firmware development teams
  • Develop internal and external technical documentation to educate customers and adjacent teams about newly deployed functionalities and compliance
  • Support new Tesla Energy software features by writing specifications and test plans, assisting development and test efforts, managing deployment, and documenting new capabilities
  • Provide technical support both internally and externally with customers throughout the sales and deployment of Tesla products into new and complex applications
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Direct Energy industry experience in projects involving interconnection of renewable power plants
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Energy industry standards such as NERC reliability guidelines for Inverter-based resources, IEEE 2800, or regional regulations such as CAISO Tariff, Business Practice Manuals, ERCOT nodal guidelines, etc.
  • Ability to quickly become familiar with existing and new standards and regulations and stay up to date on the evolution of requirements applying to Tesla Energy projects
  • Strong understanding of Energy systems including devices such as meters, inverters, SCADA controllers, and network systems
  • Experience with digital fault recorders or event capture is desired. Understanding of controls and communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC UA is a plus
  • Demonstrated application of analysis, design, and testing to solve complex engineering problems
  • Familiarity with programming languages like Python, C, C++, RUST, GO is a plus
