What to Expect

Seasoned Design Engineer with BICSI RCDD certification working on new build at GigaFactory Austin, Corpus Christi, other initiatives in Texas along with upcoming new manufacturing related projects. You will work with Tesla Construction, Manufacturing Engineers, and IT Networking team on requirements and design.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform structured cabling and infrastructure design coordination with multiple disciplines and architects during building modeling and ensuring projects are delivered within budget and on schedule
  • Develop design drawings and specifications for future project sites and division 27 & 28 Systems specifications
  • Prepare drawing packages including site, floor plans, enlarged communication room layouts, equipment rack/cabinet layouts elevations, backbone schematic and infrastructure design details.
  • Prepare cable pathway fill calculations, prepare opinions-of-probable costs.
  • Coordinate the network infrastructure design with other engineering disciplines; civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural and door locking hardware.
  • Conduct field surveys/reports during programming, construction and post-construction phases to ensure company best practices are maintained.
  • Ensure conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction
  • Work within a team environment to ensure Tesla standards are met and that all technology systems are incorporated into the overall system design
  • Develop and design within a BIM design environment, Revit and NavisWorks knowledge required. Work with BIM modelers in design development and documentation
  • Collaborate with the internal and external project team to execute the project from concept to completion including meeting attendance, site visits, response to RFIs, submittal review and responses
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience in this field
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification
  • 3+ years of relevant experience as an RCDD
  • Fluent in Autodesk CAD (computer-aided drafting & design) programs including Revit, NavisWorks, AutoCAD
  • Deep understanding of communications system design
