What You’ll Do:
Design, deploy and support automation and scripting solutions to drive new capabilities, visibility, and efficiency.
Influence resiliency and scalability in production environments in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Identify opportunities and develop proactive automated monitoring and alerting solutions by utilizing available tools (Splunk, New Relic, etc.).
Provide technical leadership and guidance around DevOps best practices
Identify opportunities to reduce manual validation efforts and drive zero touch automation and self healing
Proactively monitor all of the applications and infrastructure behind Capital One’s external and internal customer facing services including their availability, latency, performance, and capacity
Manage and govern relationships with technology vendors utilized in the enterprise.
Create, manage and utilize appropriate technical procedural documentation (run books)
Ongoing on the job training and self study professional development
Operations Tier 3 escalation resource for incident resolution
Successful candidates will possess:
Exceptional interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document solutions, present ideas to cross-functional teams, and explain operational issue background and root cause to senior leaders
Meticulous attention to detail
Solid understanding of cloud based solutions and services (preferably in AWS)
A passion to drive automation, scripting, machine learning, and self healing
A passion for teamwork
Ability to work in a flexible work environment that embraces rapid change, emphasizes continuous learning, and attacks new challenges
Ability to adequately discuss technical issues with technicians, engineers, architects and vendors.
Ability to work as part of an integrated team that is geographically dispersed, as well as work independently as required.
Experience with Linux
Familiarity utilizing REST APIs
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code methodologies and tools
Proficient knowledge of common DevOps tools such as Git/Github, Jenkins, containers, etc.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
At least 4 years of experience in DevOps Engineering(Internship experience does not apply)
At least 2 years of experience with Cloud Native technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
At least 2 years of Unix or Linux system administration experience
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience developing applications
1+ years of experience with AWS Lambda
2+ years of experience with Python
AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certification
2+ years of experience working with Agile Development Practices
