As part of Enterprise Data Risk Management (EDRM), you’ll work with talented associates to understand how data is managed around the enterprise. You’ll identify risks and provide insights that help mitigate data risk along the way. EDRM’s role is to provide effective challenge to the lines of business to ensure that our data risk is managed effectively – and this role will be a key part of the team that delivers those challenges. You’ll also bring your unique perspective and experiences to help us be rigorous, curious and creative.

Job Description

Specific responsibilities of the Data Management Advisor (Manager) include and are not limited to:

• Become a trusted advisor to business partners by providing grounded, actionable insights and gap assessments related to data risk.

• Continuously dive deep into reporting, metrics, and other sources of data that can contribute to our shared understanding of the current state of data management risk around the enterprise; identify and analyze changes, events, patterns, or trends that merit additional attention, and work with SMEs to build grounded and actionable recommendations.

• Use analytical skills to execute regular risk assessments, for example, by reviewing data management controls each quarter and assessing what has changed/what needs to change to adequately manage data risk.

• Perform gap assessments and create recommendations to ensure progress towards compliance with enterprise data management expectations.

• Challenge stakeholders, through informal influence and formal challenge mechanisms, to meet requirements and/or adopt data management best practices.

• Work with partners to explain data management requirements and thus improve compliance through collaboration and education.

• Regularly update leaders, sometimes via formal presentations, on the risks identified.

• Demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, problem solving and influencing skills across various levels of the organization

• Stay current on understanding effective Data Management strategies, requirements, and industry trends

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

• At least 4 years of experience in a data management or data governance role

• At least 4 years of experience in risk management

• At least 2 years experience governing metadata and data quality

• At least 2 years of experience managing processes or controls

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in risk management within financial services

• 5+ years of experience in a data management or data governance role

• 3+ years of experience governing metadata and data quality
