This position requires a deep understanding of both hardware and software systems, including Linux and networking . The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with data center environments, PXE/network booting, OS imaging, rack design, and scripting.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Rack Maintenance: Manage the physical infrastructure of the data center, including adding and removing hardware and optimizing rack design.
- Troubleshooting: Perform troubleshooting at the software layer, addressing issues related to VMware, Linux, and networking. Conduct low-level BIOS/bootloader/hardware debugging as needed.
- Environment Setup: Build and configure environments based on specifications gathered from requests from internal or external customers, ensuring all systems operate correctly and efficiently before hand-off.
- Liaison Work: Act as a key contact between onsite and offsite R&D departments or other key departments involved, facilitating communication and coordination to ensure continuity and efficiency of operations.
- Communication: Maintain strong communication channels with team members and other departments, providing clear and concise information on technical issues and project statuses.
- Lab Uptime: Ensure that the lab remains up and stable under normal operating conditions, and bringing hardware back up to it’s previous known state as part of hardware rotations
Requirements:
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems.
- Knowledge of networking, including PXE/network booting and imaging.
- Familiarity with data center rack design and maintenance.
- Rack and stack.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience in scripting with languages such as Bash, Python, or otherwise.
- Experience with networking solutions (VLAN/Trunks).
