Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead and oversee daily operations in the Scottsdale Development Center (SDC) warehouse, as well as perform general skilled maintenance to ensure that the warehouse, equipment, and facility building are safe, secure, and run efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory, gate processes, and shipping methods.
  • Oversee and perform (or train lower-level staff to perform) daily warehouse operations of material flow, inventory, and incoming/outgoing shipments.
  • Initiate and author (or review and approve) warehouse and facility-related project plans involving changes to building floorplans, equipment layouts, utility system upgrades or modifications, new equipment purchases and installations, new space allocations, etc.
  • Provide recommendations for contracted service vendors for repair, replacement, and general maintenance of facility equipment, utilities, and infrastructure. Request quotes and initiate purchase orders. Act as primary point of contact to schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of contracted services to ensure high work quality and compliance with service agreement.
  • Conduct routine/daily inspections of the entire facility interior (warehouse, office spaces, and laboratory spaces) and exterior (building walls, roof, parking lot, landscaping). Takes immediate action after identifying issues. Performs general repairs and maintenance. Identifies and reports more complex maintenance needs, hazardous conditions, and safety/security issues to supervisor.
  • Acts as a resource for fellow colleagues. Assist in training on the use of warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, pallet wrapper), shipping processes, and other general maintenance and cleaning tools.
  • Develop and manage the site pest control, trash, bio/hazardous waste and recycling programs in compliance with applicable local/state/federal regulations.
  • Seeks, identifies, and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with and actively participate in the site Safety Committee to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of experience in warehouse / maintenance related position
  • Forklift Driver Certified

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with basic computer skills inclusive of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Proficiency with SAP or other ERP systems
  • Proficiency with using a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, pallet wrapper) in performing duties.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform skilled facilities maintenance and repair work in a diverse range of trade areas (e.g. electrical, plumbing, HVAC).
  • Ability to recognize and mitigate occupational hazards and safety issues.
  • Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments.
  • Ability to use English language effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing.
  • Uses strong customer service skills to establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work weekends and overtime as required
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety and quality policies at all times

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Must possess the strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work, to work around machines, to climb and descend ladders, to operate a variety of tools and equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle.
    • “Heavy” work is defined as exerting up to 100lbs/45kg of force occasionally and/or up to 50lb/22kg of force frequently, and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force constantly to move objects
  • Must be able to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Must possess good time management, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must demonstrates positive demeanor, professionalism, and the ability to work within a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
