What You’ll Do
  • Create CAE/CFD and thermal models of the battery and vehicle to solve various engineering problems and design challengs
  • Provide guidance and support design and manufacturing teams based on the modeling results
  • Conduct engineering analysis to the finest details to find solutions for technical problems, improve designs and processes, and reduce cost
  • Perform advanced coupled multi-physics simulations to evaluate and enhance sub-systems and full vehicle performance
  • Perform post-test reviews and corroborate the CAE and CFD predictions to test results
  • Guide performance validation by helping with test planning, setup design and development, instrumentation, execution, root cause analysis, and data processing
  • Develop highly predictive models of materials and processes to enable good correlations with physical tests
  • Produce concise management summaries and report-outs that meet the needs of management functions
  • Work collaboratively with CAE, design, test engineering and manufacturing teams
What You’ll Bring
  • Engineering degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • Proficient knowledge in Computational Fluid Dynamics, Thermal Modeling, Gas Dynamics, Multiphase flows, Conjugate Heat Transfer, and Reacting Flows
  • Minimum 5+ years of demonstrated successful experience within a product development environment in automotive or transportation industry
  • Extensive experience with CFD tools such as ANSYS-FLUENT, STAR CCM+, COMSOL, etc. Additional experience in LS-DYNA, ANSA, ABAQUS is a plus
  • Preferred experience in HV battery design, thermal management, Li-ion battery safety, cooling technologies, and energy storage systems
  • Experience with thermal and electro-chemical modeling of Lithium-ion battery cells is a plus
  • Experience in combustion science, high speed reactive flows, chemical kinetics, fuel/air mixtures, emissions, high pressure/temperature test rigs, experimental combustion and optical diagnostics
  • MATLAB, Simulink, or Python experience for building physics-based 1D models is preferrence
  • Experience with plasma simulations and electric arc simulation is a plus
  • Excellent written and communication skills
