EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

You will act as the local DPPC (Data Protection and Privacy Coordinator) and drive DPP (Data Protection and Privacy) compliance in Japan and Korea as follows:

  • Support the local CFOs for their assigned region in fulfilling their local responsibilities for DPP issues,
  • Support the Regional DPPC to drive DPP compliance in Korea and Japan as required,
  • Fulfill and/or support reporting obligations and other responsibilities towards local management in accordance with applicable laws,
  • Monitor compliance with local DPP regulations and other applicable laws and policies,
  • Analyze changes to local laws and provide gap analysis and support to local implementation projects including data protection impact assessments,
  • Raise management awareness of data privacy compliance issues,
  • Represent SAP's Group Data Privacy Officer (DPO) within SAP's Japanese and Korean entities based on guidance provided by the DPP team,
  • Assist in strengthening the global data protection community within SAP,
  • Support in case of:
    • Inquiries from regulatory authorities in the assigned region,
    • Data privacy breaches,
    • Escalations triggered by a data subject; or
    • Other supervisory requests.
  • Act as main point of contact for local supervisory authorities,
  • Act as the point of contact for grievance redressal,
  • Assist with periodic data protection audits as required,
  • Provide education and training on a regular basis to increase DPP awareness,
  • Ensure documentation of DPP compliance based on the SAP DPP Control Framework

Required skills

  • 5 years’ experience in a law firm or in-house as legal counsel or compliance officer, working in the data protection and privacy space.
  • A law degree from a reputable university.
  • Good knowledge of DPP laws and best practices and/or a strong desire to continuously learn about DPP laws for Japan and Korea.
  • Knowledge of (or willingness to learn about) the EU GDPR.
  • Good project management, team working and presentation skills.
  • Strong (written and verbal) communication skills, some experience with C-level communications preferred.
  • Assertive, persuasive, and agile, with a high level of commitment and flexibility.
  • Ability to collaborate in a virtual international environment across different time zones.

  • Fluency both in English and Japanese
