Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop critical reader junction processes from prototype to production for next-generation magnetic recording head.
  • Carry out DOE and NPI wafer processing on a regular basis.
  • Collect, analyze, understand and communicate wafer process data.
  • Perform failure analysis of wafer process.
  • Work with design, integration and NPI teams to understand magnetic requirements and translate them to physical requirements in wafer process.
  • Work with manufacturing engineering teams to transfer process from development to manufacturing.
Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • MS or PhD degree in Physics, EE, ME, Material Sciences or related disciplines. Magnetic material background is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in wafer fab processing in magnetic recording head or related industries.
  • Hands-on experience of thin film process techniques. Experience of ion beam etch (IBE) and/or ion beam deposition (IBD) is preferred.

SKILLS

  • Excellent data analysis skill and proficient in Excel. JMP skill and programming capability are plus.
  • Good communication skill in both PowerPoint presentation and verbal discussion.
  • Creative, self-motivated, open-minded and team player.
  • Flexible in work schedule.

  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.
