Job OverviewTo be successful in this role, the Sr Payroll Tax Analyst – US must be a subject matter expert on wage and hour laws, Federal and State Tax legislation and regulations, with the ability to handle a large, complex employment tax operation timely and accurately. You must be an independent thinker with the ability to work with little day-to-day direction, while providing guidance and oversight to payroll staff and internal partners regarding employment tax actions, policies, and procedures.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Verify and maintain compliance with government payroll/tax requirements
- Keep abreast of current and changing payroll and employment tax laws
- Review and audit current processes to ensure compliance, while recommending and implementing changes where needed
- Lead the daily/monthly/quarterly wage reconciliations and tax filing requirements, including year-end reporting, W-2s, W-2Cs and amendments
- Research, determine root cause, and resolve incoming tax notices from various agencies
- Lead and perform audits of payroll and employment tax data prior to payroll completion while following all established controls
- Complete post payroll audits and reporting, prepare metrics and track errors using technology and reporting tools
- Participate in the internal or external audits and review of records, worker’s compensation, tax filings, SOX, and other related documentation
- Evaluate federal, state and local tax treatment of employee fringe benefits, executive compensation and related impacts
- Partner closely with corporate accounting & tax to ensure accurate GL & tax reporting
- Respond to complex payroll related inquiries from employees and/or key stakeholders
- Research and produce complex reports which may require in depth analysis
- Participate and provide direction for transitions in mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
- Develop, maintain and improve employment tax processes and internal controls to preserve the quality, efficiency and overall effectiveness of all employment tax functions while ensuring regulatory compliance
- Participate in tracking and testing of legislative/regulatory changes, application enhancements, and system modifications
- Support execution of SOX controls as well as internal, external audits
- Support and be a team player to all payroll staff and assist in pre and post payroll audits to ensure productivity and knowledge of overall processes are maintained and improved
Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is:
- Bay Area California: $116,000 - 157,500
- Southern California: $105,000 - 142,500
