What you'll do:

As a Director of Software Engineering, you will lead a team of talented functional consultants that configure business applications in SAP Successfactors and a group of software engineers who build on our Open-Stack distributed platforms. You are a hands-on person and key participant in ensuring the right architecture and design for high performance and scalable software applications that meet the needs of millions of Walmart associates and job applicants across domestic and international markets. You will build and manage a team of Engineering Managers & software development engineers, providing technical leadership to achieve project goals & partner with product management to drive product strategy forward. You will be mentoring the managers and senior engineers in your team and build a high-performance culture. We are looking to bring more intellectually curious individuals who are passionate about technology in general.

  • Executes engineering projects by developing resource planning for business roadmap in advance; removing barriers to success; ensuring others have the information, training, resources, and implementation time needed to succeed; developing and upgrading work assignments and processes to accomplish goals across functions, organizations, and geographies; reviewing project progress against timeline; and developing and communicating logical, convincing justifications, including lessons learned, to build commitment and support.
  • Reduces business impact due to applications systems issues by ensuring high quality using quality standards; measuring loss and performing root cause analysis; publishing results; and developing future prevention plan.
  • Develops and executes technical software development strategy for Core-HR applications and systems using current business roadmap by analyzing competitive trends and patterns; analyzing the technology landscape; evaluating short- and long-term implications; and communicating strategies and change initiatives clearly.
  • Drives continuous process improvement and innovation by identifying inefficiencies in current processes; improving agility of the team; and adopting industry trends for innovation.
  • Ensures product quality by developing and executing quality assurance plan; using data and experience to determine business needs; directing continuous improvement and eliminating non-value-added work; measuring milestones for quality; and developing mitigation plans to ensure quality.
  • Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
  • Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.
  • Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.

What you'll bring:

  • Should have extensive knowledge in the field of SAP SuccessFactors (all modules) and Open-Stack engineering, including advanced concepts in software engineering, system architecture, and technology trends. This expertise is crucial for driving innovation, solving complex technical problems, and providing guidance on best practices.
  • Leadership and Influence: The ability to lead by example, mentor junior engineers, and influence decision-making processes at all levels of the organization is vital. This includes promoting a culture of technical excellence, encouraging continuous learning, and fostering collaboration across teams.
  • Strategic Thinking: A strategic mindset to align technical initiatives with business goals is essential. This involves understanding the broader business context, anticipating future trends and challenges, and making decisions that balance short-term needs with long-term objectives.
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills: You are expected to tackle some of the most challenging problems in the organization. This requires exceptional analytical skills, creativity, and the ability to develop innovative solutions that are scalable, efficient, and effective.
  • Effective Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills are necessary to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and effectively negotiate and resolve conflicts. This also includes the ability to listen to and incorporate diverse perspectives and feedback.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: - Stock Minimum Qualifications...
