Job Responsibilities:

• Seek scientifically valid solutions that deliver real value to eBay customers

• Carry out statistical analyses on large and messy data

• Guide the process to build machine learning models and data pipelines to deliver insightful yet practical solutions

• Work with multiple teams to help promote standard scientific methodologies and processes in your field

• Present key technical and novel research work in public forums and conferences

• Drive impact with technical innovations to solve real world problems at eBay with optimized solutions

• Stay up to date with latest technological developments with Information Theory and Machine Learning

Basic Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent

• 5+ years (with PhD) or 8+ years (with MS) of industrial experience in a related field

• Industrial experience with all of the following: classification, regression, GBM, recommendation systems, clustering, DeepLearning/Neural NetworksIndustrial experience with one or more of the following: NLP, Computer Vision, Multimodal Modeling , Large Language Modeling, Embedding based Retrieval

• Experience in big data processing, e.g. Hadoop, SQL, Spark

• Experience with Python, and Java or Scala or C/C++ . Familiarity with frameworks such as Pytorch, tensorflow or JAX

• 5+ or more related publications in quality conferences or journals

• 1+ patents granted

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$168,400 - $262,900
