And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.As a Data Center FSE Civil Engineer at AWS, you will lead Civil Engineering designs and audits for Amazon Data Centers. You will be also providing subject matter expertise support to multidisciplinary teams and organizations comprised of Architects, Engineers, Project Managers, Facility Managers on matters related to civil engineering. As a subject matter expert, you will provide technical design guidance and vendor oversight, solve large-scale implementation issues, and build a strong understanding of site design and program requirements.Key job responsibilities
As a Civil Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. In addition, you will also support initiatives such as new generation/product designs. You will be the ‘go to’ engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed, and will use your subject matter expertise in Civil Engineering to:
- Communicate conceptual designs and create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction.
- Respond and visit sites to observe site specific issues and develop engineering solutions to overcome challenges.
- Create, review and release Data Center Civil improvements and designs.
- Drive refinements to the Basis of Design, product development, sustainability, and template specifications for Civil systems to support continuous improvement of future Data Center designs.
- Create, review and release design (Request for Proposals) RFPs.
- Understand the existing building/services system in order to create, review and initiate Civil audit/remediation and maintenance projects to ensure that the building and site is operating efficiently and safely.- Lead initiatives aimed at improving quality, schedule, consistency or reducing costs to in-flight and future Data Center construction and improvement projects.
- Work on multiple fast paced Data Center capital improvement projects simultaneously without compromising safety and availability constraints.About the team

- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years professional experience in Civil engineering with a focus on land development, large industrial, warehouse and commercial projects using local and/or international Codes.
- Proficiency in foundations, earthworks, grading, paving, storm water, utility design and landscaping.
- Working knowledge of design of reinforced concrete civil structures.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally/domestically with short notice.

- Master’s or higher degree in Civil Engineering.
- 7+ years of professional experience Professional Civil/Engineering (PE) License or local equivalent.
- Experience directly related to Data Center or mission critical facility design including a basic understanding of its structural/architectural and MEP system.
- Experience in working around site constraints and assessment and retrofitting/remediation of existing site.
- Experience in Civil-structural projects and good understanding of related structural/geotechnical mechanics.
