Director, Risk Management Event & Issue Management (Card Risk) - (Hybrid)

As a Director of Card Risk you’ll be responsible for working with Business Executives and their teams to apply risk management and analytical skills to some of our highest profile Risk Management initiatives. The Director of Risk Management will play a key role in the ongoing management of our Enterprise Event and Issue Standard, including application of our data quality management, evaluation and challenge methodology by the first and second lines. This role is also responsible for contributing to the development of strategic enhancements to event and issue management processes. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated risk professional with excellent analytical, process improvement, and communication skills. The Director will have exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with leadership to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to Card.

  • Lead a team to support Event and Issue Management for Card

  • Serve as interdepartmental liaison, interfacing with lines of business, including other Business Risk Offices, providing consult and knowledge sharing to ensure consistent understanding, implementation and application of the Event & Issue Management standard methodologies

  • Gather data and reporting; perform initial analysis or potentially evaluate data provided by other team analysts

  • Collaborate internally and with our risk community (e.g. risk managers, risk leads, IRM groups, business risk offices, front line process owners) to mature our risk event practice methodologies and advance learning

  • Develop practical solutions to improve risk event management processes using data and technology

  • Collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholders and organizations such as Operational Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, Technology, Internal Audit, etc.

  • Strong analytical, strategic, and interpersonal skills are a must for the role.

  • Strategy and presentations that aid in the design, development, refinement, and usage of risk management functions, practices, and activities

  • Participate in and execute other special programs across Card division and with enterprise teams

  • Experiences with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applicable to event strategies

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years of Financial Services experience or at least 4 years of Risk Management experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in Project or Process Management

  • At least 5 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree

  • 7+ years of Financial Services risk management experience

  • 7+ years of experience in Project or Process Management

  • 5+ years of internal strategy or management consulting experience leading cross functional financial services projects and programs

  • 7+ years of people management experience

  • Business Process Management Certification - Six Sigma Lean, Green Belt or Black Belt certification, Agile Coach certification
