Key Responsibilities:
As an Apprentice Controls Engineer, you will work closely with seasoned professionals to gain hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining building control systems.

You’ll gain the below nationally recognised qualification:
MOET Level 3 - Engineering
BEM’s Level 4 – Building Energy Management Systems
When you’re not in college, (during working hours), you’ll gain hands on experience on site in:
Supporting system integration, testing, and commissioning activities under the guidance of experienced engineers.
Collaborating with the project team to comprehend customer requirements and contribute to system solutions.
Assisting in troubleshooting and providing technical support for control systems during installation and post-installation phases.
Gaining proficiency in ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
Contributing to the development and maintenance of documentation related to control system designs and configurations.
Engaging with clients to comprehend their needs and contribute ideas for enhancements or upgrades to existing systems.
Key requirements:
Please note that degree holders are not eligible for this role
Holds a full driving licence (manual or automatic) and is a car owner
Experience in electrical installations, or an electronic qualification or solid work history
Strong GCSE’s, such as Maths GCSE – B (5) English – C (4)
Interest in controls engineering, building automation, or a related discipline
Your Future:
Successful apprentices will be offered the role of Controls Engineer.
Controls Engineers are initially involved with designing the building energy management system that controls the building services (e.g. heating, air conditioning, renewables). They also write related software and graphics as well as installing and commissioning such systems. Another key area is linking and integrating with other building systems (e.g. security) to create ‘Smart Buildings’. After the building is occupied and being used, they may also be involved in servicing & maintenance, fault finding if there are problems with the system and energy performance reviews.
