As an Electrical Lab Technician, you will play a key hands-on role in supporting the electrical engineering team through all stages of hardware prototyping and validation. Your primary responsibility will be performing high-precision surface mount (SMT) soldering and rework on PCB assemblies, including high-density components such as 0201 passives, QFNs, BGAs, and CSPs. This work enables fast, iterative bring-up of early hardware revisions. You will also help assemble and modify prototype systems, build custom test fixtures, and support lab infrastructure. You’ll use equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and power supplies to take measurements, diagnose hardware issues, and assist in root cause investigations. In collaboration with hardware and validation engineers, you’ll also help develop and run automated test setups, implement test scripts, gather data, and generate clear test reports. This role requires excellent attention to detail as well as phenomenal written and oral communication skills.
  • Expert-level SMT solder and rework experience at PCB level (including 0201, QFNs, BGAs, CSPs, etc.).
  • Skilled with electrical lab instruments: power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
  • Experience debugging failed units and performing structured failure analysis.
  • Comfortable analyzing test data to identify defects and prepare detailed technical test reports. Experience developing and implementing automated test systems, including script setup and data collection.
  • Ability to build test fixtures and support hardware (including basic mechanical modifications).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with design and validation engineers in a prototype environment.
  • Capable of lab upkeep, including supply/tool management, calibration tracking, and ESD practices.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • IPC-610 / J-STD-001 or other soldering certification.
  • Familiarity with scripting (Python, Bash, LabVIEW, etc.) and test automation frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for hands-on problem-solving.
  • Experience with high-performance compute hardware, high-current test setups, or custom server platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to lift and configure server components (~20-50 lbs).
