As a
Capital Expenditures (capex) Finance Director -you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here you will make an impact by:

  • Providing strategic Capital investment counsel and partnership to Enterprise Supply Chain (ESC) business leaders, ESC Finance partners, and key members of Corporate FP&A and senior management
  • Acting as key point of contact for capex planning, budget setting, performance management, project evaluation, forecast accuracy and return on investment
  • Developing short and longer-range capex and cash flow estimates aligned with 3M’s Operating Plan, Strategic Plan, and other planning rhythms
  • Counseling global Capex and Engineering leaders on value creation and opportunities for capex spend optimization and improvement
  • Analyzing, designing, and implementing enhanced reporting to facilitate improved visibility of capex components, and forecasts
  • Providing direct guidance, counsel, and direction to ESC employees supporting the Engineering function and related capex spending and performance
  • Driving change with informed positions and analysis to support management recommendations and a willingness to challenge the status quo


To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Seasoned Corporate Finance experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Expertise in global execution of model design and governance
  • Previous experience working on capex modeling and performance measurement
  • Proven communication skills and ability to interact with and influence leaders at all levels
  • Ability to work collaboratively with global teams todevelop/deploy/improveproject enhancements, systems, and key business processes
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong experience influencing across organizations
  • Self-starter with ability to drive change
  • Previous employee supervisory experience
