Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-orientedfor shipping and receiving operations, ensuring the accurate and timely movement of goods. This role requires hands-on work, including lifting and handling packages, as well as experience with shipping software and inventory systems.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments

  • Verify and document received shipments; inspect for damage and accuracy

  • Prepare shipping documents, labels, and packing lists

  • Operate shipping software to process and track orders (e.g., FedEx, UPS, ShipStation)

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and organize warehouse space

  • Communicate with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments

  • Load/unload shipments and assist with physical movement of goods (must be able to lift up to [30 lbs])

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and shipping regulations

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 1+ year of logistics, shipping/receiving, or warehouse experience

  • Familiarity with shipping software and inventory management systems

  • Ability to lift and move packages up to [30 lbs]

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Basic computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, etc.)

  • Inventory Management: Ability to track and manage inventory, ensuring all shipments are properly logged.

  • Shipment Preparation: Skilled in packaging, labeling, and preparing goods for transport, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations.

  • Receiving: Ability to inspect incoming goods for damage and ensure order accuracy.

  • Documentation: Proficiency in handling shipping documents, including packing slips, bills of lading, and invoices.

  • Shipping Platforms: Familiarity with software like FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip, ShipStation, or similar tools to process and track shipments.

  • Order Management Systems (OMS): Ability to update and manage orders in software systems to ensure accuracy in processing.

  • Tracking and Reporting: Ability to track shipments in real time, resolve issues, and generate reports for internal use.

  • Lifting and Handling: Capable of lifting heavy packages (often up to 30 lbs or more), loading/unloading shipments, and moving items throughout the warehouse.

  • Collaboration: Effective communication with internal teams (e.g., procurement, sales) and external parties (e.g., carriers, suppliers).

  • Problem Solving: Ability to address shipping discrepancies, delayed deliveries, or damaged goods with effective solutions.

  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills for handling customer inquiries related to shipping issues or delivery statuses.

  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple shipments at once, ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in handling orders, documentation, and inventory management is critical to avoid errors.

  • Multi-tasking: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and juggling multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

  • Basic Math: Ability to perform calculations for measurements, weights, and shipment costs.

  • Technology Savvy: Comfort with using computers, Excel spreadsheets, and database management for tracking orders and inventory.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address issues in shipping, such as delays or damaged goods, and find effective solutions.

Compensation & Benefits Details

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
  • If your position is non-exempt, you are eligible for overtime pay pursuant to company policy and applicable laws. You may also be eligible for shift differential pay, depending on the shift to which you are assigned.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance. Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
