As an Software Development Engineer in the AWS Sustainability Technology Organization, you will design and implement scalable software solutions that power AWS's sustainability initiatives. Your responsibilities include developing and maintaining software services, APIs, and backend services that process large volumes of environmental and operational data. You will work with data scientists and data engineers to software systems, focusing on carbon footprint calculations, energy efficiency metrics, and sustainability reporting tools.You will architect and build components of our sustainability data platform and developing self-service interfaces for internal customers. You will also contribute to our transition from legacy systems to modern cloud-native architectures while ensuring reliability and performance.Your work will include writing high-quality, well-tested code, participating in code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers. This position requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance immediate operational needs with long-term architectural goals.
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
