You'll collaborate with operations and development teams to build and manage our large-scale networking infrastructure for cloud computing platform. You'll deploy and maintain the large scale, multifunctional networking infrastructure that support customers' versatile cloud computing applications. You'll create process and automation tools that enable the rapid and safe deployment of networking systems, monitoring the status and performance of the networking systems, and troubleshooting and mitigating when problems arise. You'll work with open-source and Akamai proprietary technologies.

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Deploying and provision virtualized networks systems to Akamai data centers worldwide
• Monitoring the functioning and performance of the networking infrastructure via Prometheus metric systems and Grafana dashboards
• Investigating and troubleshoot networking problems within Linux based networking stack
• Collaborating across Akamai engineering organizations to resolve internal and customer escalations
• Improving our deployment and investigation process by automating repetitive tasks with shell scripting and Python programming
• Increasing the observability and reliability of our networking system by developing metrics and monitoring solutions
• Participating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issues

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have relevant industrial experience and a Bachelor or Master diploma in Computer Science or equivalent
• Have professional experience in a Site Reliability or System Engineering role, with large scale distributed systems
• Show proficiency with open-source monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
• Show proficiency with configuration management tools such as Saltstack, Ansible, Terraform, and Jenkins
• Be comfortable with programming in Linux environments, such as python and bash scripting
• Have experience and knowledge with networking technologies such as routing, firewall and DNS
• Have experience with Linux systems and tools such as netstats, traceroute, tcpdump
