In this role, you will…
- Work as a liaison between Align Global R&D and China technical teams by interacting with multiple functional teams and providing technical insights to support local needs.
- Support essential activities related to new product development/transfer, new material/equipment evaluation, and process changes/improvements.
- Lead localized second sourcing activities by researching and evaluating a variety of materials (e.g., thermoplastics, elastomers, composites, adhesives, etc.) to determine the best combination of materials to the specific applications.
- Participate and serve as a local lead in product and materials competitive analysis activities including monitoring new materials/product development and commercialization, designing/performing material analysis, interpreting analysis results, and preparing the detailed report.
- Develop a process to be effectively support the local materials and process inquiries.
- Document activities in accordance with Align QMS and FDA guidelines.
- Think critically about products and processes and conduct root cause analysis.
- Communicate and collaborate with a variety of project stakeholders, engineers, and lab technicians.
- Build effective working relationship with global and regional teams including the following organizations: Manufacturing, Clinical Research, Marketing, Operations, Regulatory and Legal
- Work on several projects simultaneously and strive to prioritize activities to meet deadlines and quality outcomes.
In this role, you’ll need …
- Advanced written and spoken English is required as this role will be required to collaborate with Global Materials Research Team
- Sound knowledge of Materials/Polymer characterization methods and the underlying theory
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Strong problem solving and analysis skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities.
- Must have the ability to apply results to product performance metrics.
- Ability to work on projects that vary from routine to very complex.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- BS or MS in Chemical Engineering, Polymer chemistry, Materials Engineering, or a related field
- BS with 5+ yearsor MS with 3+ years of directly related experience. Minimal 3+ years of experience in material research especially in polymer characterization
- Higher education may count as experience.
- Dental or Medical device experience preferred.
