You will be joining a team located in Pasadena, CA that pursues material innovations to improve the performance of quantum processors. We are looking to hire a thin film engineer who will contribute to the development of new thin film processes – and the continuous improvement of existing processes – relevant to superconducting quantum device applications. You will operate and maintain vacuum deposition systems & materials characterization equipment, process data, and regularly communicate your results to teammates and stakeholders across the CQC. Strong organization and communication skills are essential.Key job responsibilities
- Develop new thin film deposition processes for integration in superconducting quantum devices
- Evaluate thin film material properties using a suite of characterization instruments- Perform routine maintenance on vacuum systems
- Develop and maintain protocols for sample preparation and data handling
Pasadena, CA, USA
- MS in materials science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, applied physics, or related field
- 2+ years of relevant hands-on experience in an industrial or academic laboratory, or a fabrication cleanroom
- Proficiency in a scientific programming environment (e.g. Python, Matlab, Mathematica)
- Self-starter with excellent organizational skills
- Good problem solving, analytical, writing and communication skills
- Curiosity and capability to rapidly research and learn new instruments, techniques and technical topics
