At Jacobs, we challenge what is currently accepted, so we can shape innovative and lasting solutions for tomorrow. As a consultant a vital objective of this job is to develop unique solutions to control materials and substances that can interfere with the treatment of wastewater and to perform these tasks in a manner that fully meet strict regulatory requirements, both in the US and internationally. Jacobs is seeking a Pretreatment Specialist II to join our team. As a Pretreatment Specialist II, y our skills and leadership will be used to assist clients with the implementation of the industrial pretreatment program and its requirements. Clients include both treatment system owners and industrial clients seeking representation concerning IPP permits and staff or to achieve regulatory compliance with pretreatment permits. Additionally, a Pretreatment Specialist develops programs and strategies to control nuisance substances such as fats, oil and grease or toxic substances including but not limited to mercury, PCBs or PFAS. Candidate must live near a major airport. Position will require 60% travel. If you’re up for the challenge, we’ve been looking for someone like you.

IPP Consultants will provide to both internal and external clients the following services:

- Preparation of updated ordinances, jurisdictional agreements, procedures manuals, and guides for IPP

- Preparation of Technically Based Local Limits

- Preparation of limits for toxic organics using USEPA approved methods.

- Assistance with preparation of regulatory required reports for client issuance.

- Interpretation and assistance with permit required conditions.

- Tracking and interpretation of new pretreatment program regulations.

- Monitoring data and compliance records

- Preparation of storm water permits.

- Develops or assists in development Pollutant Minimization Plans (PMPs) such as mercury, PCBs PFOS.

- Assists POTW operations personnel in diagnosing process problems and identifying the source.

- Additional issues beyond IPP may include but not be limited to the Clean Water Act (CWA), Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Clean Air Act (CAA) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response Liability and Compensation Act (CERCLA) and some toxicological chemical profiling.

- Provides guidance, training, and evaluation of IPP personnel on project sites.

- Assist with development and implementation of IPP training programs.

- Establishes cooperative relationships with coworkers, operations staff, vendors, contractors, and clients.

Here's what you'll need

- Bachelor’s degree with at least two college level classes chemistry (General Chem or higher).

- Two (2) year of experience as an Industrial Pretreatment Supervisor or Lead

- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

- Possess a valid driver’s license with no major infractions.

- Experience in budget preparation and financial accountability

- Ability to write proposals, prepare and make presentations and technical reports.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

- Masters degree in environmental science, chemistry or toxicology

- Medium to high level Water/Wastewater Operator Certification

- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form.

- This position requires strong skills as a self-starter, with ability to balance work on multiple projects simultaneously.

- Previous experience and participation in safety programs
