Physical Distribution Specialist
The scope of work for a New Product Introduction (NPI) Buying, Logistics, Customs & Warehouse Operations Specialist encompasses various responsibilities related to the procurement, logistics, customs compliance, and warehouse management for new products being introduced to the market at Philips R&D facilities. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient launch of new products, from the initial sourcing of materials to their delivery and storage with Procure to Pay. Here’s a detailed outline of the typical responsibilities and tasks included in the scope of work for this position:
Your role:
- Identify and source materials, components, and services required for new product introductions (NPI) in R&D Develop and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality materials at competitive prices.
- Evaluate potential suppliers based on criteria such as cost, quality, delivery performance, and capacity. Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with company standards and requirements.
- Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers to secure the best possible agreements.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies & ethical standards on both Ariba/SAP. Ensure & having ownership of Procure to Pay process relevant to all R&D NPI buying operations.
- Develop logistics plans to support the efficient movement of materials and products throughout the supply chain. Ontime coordinate with suppliers, transportation providers, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and products.
- Manage transportation arrangements for inbound & outbound shipments, including selecting carriers & tracking shipments end to end through FF & CHA. Address & resolve any transportation issues or delays that may arise.
- Prepare and manage all necessary customs documentation with appropriate HSN classification for the import and export of materials & products of NPI in R&D and effective coordination with CHA.
- Ensure to stay updated compliance with all relevant customs regulations & trade laws to facilitate smooth customs clearance.
- Work with customs brokers and regulatory agencies to address any compliance issues & resolve potential delays.
- Oversee the operations of the warehouse to ensure efficient storage, handling, and distribution of materials and products. Implement inventory management practices to maintain accurate stock levels & reduce excess inventory.
- Develop & maintain inventory control procedures to ensure accurate tracking & management of inventory. Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations to verify stock levels and address discrepancies. Ensure warehouse operations adhere to safety standards & regulations
- Implement process improvements to enhance warehouse efficiency and productivity. Work closely with new product development, engineering, production, and quality teams to align procurement and logistics activities with NPI timelines and requirements.
- Provide input and support for NPI projects, ensuring materials and logistics plans are in place to meet project milestones at R&D. Maintain effective communication with suppliers and other external stakeholders to manage expectations and ensure smooth operations at R&D.
- Address & resolve any issues or challenges that may arise during the NPI process.
- Track and analyze key performance metrics related to procurement, logistics, customs, and warehouse operations. Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting performance, issues, and opportunities for improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the scope of NPI buying, logistics, customs, and warehouse operations. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
