We are seeking a Structural Engineer (Buildings) to join our New York, NY or Morristown, NJ office as part of Jacobs’ Federal & Environmental Solutions business group, primarily serving our United States Postal Service (USPS) client. Collaborating with our diverse team of architects and engineers, you will investigate, design, rehabilitate and renovate structural systems for a variety of USPS postal facilities, including post offices, processing & distribution centers, parking garages, vehicle maintenance facilities. Extensive construction and field support is required, as well as on-site investigations to identify structural deficiencies in older, historic buildings. You’ll be accountable for schedule, scope, budget, and technical quality of engineering tasks and construction documents. You’ll lead teams through the design process and actively mentor junior staff.

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis

• 15+ years of relevant buildings-related structural design experience

• Proficiency with structural design and analysis software (e.g., STAAD, RISA, RAM, TEDDS)

• Thorough knowledge of building codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, TMS)

• Desire to take independent initiative and ownership of work, and an eagerness to learn

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Professional Engineer (PE) license

• United States Citizenship

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Experience in Structural Renovation and/or Rehabilitation

• Experience with Revit

• Knowledge of New York State and New York City Building Codes
