Influence Industrial Design (ID)/CMF selections during products concept phase at a material and product level and define approved solutions based on the product design and the technology capability
Drive technology incubations and roadmap for assigned incubations related to new finish technologies, material technologies or process technology
Conduct NUDD (New, Unique, Different and Difficult) investigations, related to design, as required to meet design objectives during concept phase for new products
Create strategic engagements with our external technology suppliers and partners. Able to influence and connect their technology roadmaps to align with Dell's objectives
Become the subject matter expert for assigned technology area, such as coatings or anodizing process
Essential Requirements
8+ years of related experience in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
Knowledgeable in coating technology, material technology or anodizing process
Background collaborating with suppliers to resolve technical barriers and identifying those barriers and able to tackle complex problems and work through the solutions
Lead understanding of latest CMF technologies and the applicability to DELL’s roadmap
Experience with Dell’s product development cycle with a passion to bring new technologies from idea to reality
Desirable Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
Experience with typical finishes used for electronics: Paint, Anodizing, etc
Experience working in electronics supply chain in an ODM model
