As a Senior Accounting Associate, you will have dynamic accounting and reporting responsibilities associated with Capital One’s month-end close and reporting cycles, as well as opportunities to participate in projects for our growth oriented organization. We are looking for a collaborative candidate with excellent written and verbal communication and sharp problem solving skills. You will assist in the compilation of reports and analysis to support management review of financial results and local reporting requirements.

General Responsibilities:
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, annual accounting processes and close responsibilities (journal entry recording, reconciliations, period over period balance change analyses, etc.)

  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations of fixed assets, leases, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, accounts payable, payroll expenses and other, depending on business needs

  • Assist in the preparation and review of the annual financial statements,and preparation of tax returns

  • Review supporting documentation to substantiate information included in deliverables

  • Assist in external audit coordination and internal audit reviews

  • Review documentation of purchase orders, vendor invoices and expense allocation for multi-currency operations

  • Prepare monthly financial performance analysis related to monthly results and interface with Business partners for additional insight on performance trends

  • Ensure accounting practices and documentation procedures are performed in accordance with accounting and governance policies and procedures

  • Identify and deliver process improvements

  • Support internal controls and attestation compliance requirements

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to resolve issues and stay connected on process or product changes

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and external contacts on routine work-related matters in English and Spanish

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree or Military Experience

  • 2+ years of accounting, finance or audit experience, or a combination

  • Intermediate-Advanced English fluency

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA)

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Local equivalent

  • 3+ years of Accounting experience in banking or insurance industry

  • 2+ years of experience in Payroll, Fixed Assets, Leases, VAT and Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations

  • 1+ years of experience in PeopleSoft General Ledger, Hyperion Essbase, Excel or MS Office, or a combination
