In this role you’ll:
• Work on a team with other project engineers on detailed storm drainage analyses and design for urban and rural transportation projects per the requirements of the project and transportation agencies including FHWA, CFLHD, CDOT, UDOT, and WYDOT.
• Provide technical expertise in drainage hydrology and hydraulic modeling on all project aspects associated with conceptual planning, detailed engineering design, reports, and preparation of construction plans and specifications.
• Coordinate design development, collaborate with other disciplines, and assist in providing technical direction and mentorship to other engineers.
• Provide quality control within the drainage discipline to ensure completeness and accuracy of designs and deliverables.
• Review and prepare plans, technical specifications, and estimates.
• Review drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a U.S. ABET accredited school or equivalent.
• Registration as Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado is required or the ability to obtain within six (6) months from the hiring date if licensed in another state.
• 4 to 8-years of experience working on mid- and/or large-scale transportation related projects providing drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, floodplain impacts, erosion control, and water quality analyses.
• Demonstrated strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and capable of working with internal colleagues, clients, contractors, and regulatory agency staff.
• Team oriented with strong capability to learn, mentor, and work independently while managing time and budget.
Ideally, you'll also have:
• Experience with CAD software including Microstation InRoads, OpenRoads DU/SUDA, and Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Experience with H&H design software such as HEC-RAS, HY-8, FHWA Hydraulic Toolbox, FlowMaster, and CulvertMaster.
• Experience in designing roadway storm sewer systems.
• Experience in hydrologic and hydraulic 1D and 2D modeling for offsite cross-drainage structures and FEMA designated floodplain impacts.
• Experience working on large scale design-build transportation related projects.
