The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Maintain work order documentation and data entry into the MP2 Maintenance Program
  • Capable of quickly coming up to speed and becoming fully competent in the diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment such as, but not limited to, Conveyors, Dot matrix printers, pumps, mixers, dispensing units for fluids, air-vey units, presses, small ovens, hydraulic systems, Pneumatic systems, Electrical control systems, Extruder systems
  • Perform needed metal fabrication, repair, and welding for support of manufacturing as required
  • Troubleshooting using programmable logic controllers (PLC’s)
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with equipment operators, other maintenance team members, engineers, and equipment vendors

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Possess a 2 year technical diploma/degree or higher in a Mechanical,Electrical/Electronic,OR 3 years of combined Industrial Maintenance and Electrical experience in a private, public, government, or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience with fabrication equipment including welding and general machine shop tools
  • Experience with and ability to troubleshoot, repair and install up to 480 VAC systems, power supplies, electrical panels, disconnects, breakers, fuses, bending conduit, safety interlocks, relays, AC and DC drives, variable frequency drives, motor controls, motor starters, contactors, switches, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong background in electrical preventative maintenance as well as basic knowledge of electrical code covering laws of installation of electrical equipment; use test equipment, such V.O.M., Ammeters, DVM, signal generators, logic analyzers and probes, chart recorder, and other related equipment
