As a Principal Research and Development (R&D) Engineer/Scientist here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for developing the next generation of turbine engine based propulsion and power systems for the aerospace industry. By collaborating with customers and Honeywell engineering teams, you will define products and supporting technology development roadmaps to meet customer requirements. You will be a technical focal point across Honeywell Aerospace Technologies engineering teams creating solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will provide Program Management leadership to execute internal and external programs that define the propulsion and power systems needed by our customers. You will utilize your engineering background and systems engineering fundamentals to manage integrated product teams. You will leverage advanced tools and techniques to deliver high impact business results while serving as a technical leader and coach to other engineers and technology stakeholders.
You will report directly to our Sr. Engineering Manager for Advanced Propulsion and Power Systems and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, Arizona location on a Hybrid work schedule.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage 1-3 programs simultaneously with >$2M total annual expenditures
Establish program technical requirements, statement of work, sales contracts, program charter, and work breakdown structure
Setup and initiate programs and institute Program Management Operating Systems to ensure contract execution within cost and schedule constraints while achieving technical objectives
Align technologies to Engines and Power Systems business product development roadmaps and assess readiness using TRA methodology
Effectively manage intellectual property through the timely submittal of patent disclosures
Lead internal and external reviews and technical interchange meetings with customers
YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a similar Engineering field
10+ years of experience in gas turbine engine development, production, or field sustainment
Strong communication and presentation skills
WE VALUE
Gas turbine engine thermodynamic analysis experience
Gas turbine engine conceptual design experience
Airframe propulsion, power, and thermal management systems engineering experience
Advanced engineering degrees
Experience with government agencies in the pursuit of externally funded Science & Technology programs
Program Management (PM) or Project Engineering (PE) or functional support experience in product or technology development
Experience in turbine engine manufacturing and functional design areas ranging from aerodynamics, thermal/mechanical, materials and processes, thermodynamics, controls, test, and systems engineering
Ability to identify problems and significantly improve or change existing methods and techniques to mitigate risks
Ability to influence internal and external parties to deliver advanced tools, methodologies, and system designs
Program management knowledge including earned value management (EVM)
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) experience
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
Ability to work across organizational boundaries, build relationships quickly, and deal with ambiguity
Self-motivation and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
DoD Secret Clearance
