Electrical Engineer V - Data Acquisition and Controls
About the Role
Lead electrical engineer for the development of new high-performance systems used in the semiconductor industry. This position requires participation in all aspects of the design cycle from high speed data acquisition and controls architecture, specification development, PCB and FPGA design, supplier support, part verification, and integration with hardware and software systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement concepts for a wide range of significantly complex product issues and engineering solutions
Technical lead and/or execute engineering projects and spearhead research and development of new technologies, as appropriate
Problem identification and troubleshooting a wide range of significantly complex engineering problems
Specify and/or perform engineering analysis of significant complex scope
Interface with internal and external customers regarding significantly complex electrical issues to address customers High Value Problems (HVP) for a range of products
Independently, generate product specifications
Specify the development of design and/or modify engineering assemblies, layout/schematics and/or detaileddrawings/specificationsof significantly complex scope
Define, coordinate, perform and document engineering tests
Qualifications/Skills:
Experienced in development of industrial high speed digital and analog PCBs and systems, including FPGAs
Knowledge of communication protocols for synchronous and asynchronous communication with sensors and devices (LVDS, RS422/485, TTL, quadrature, SPI, I2C)
Selection of devices based on technical requirements (power, data rates, resolution, cable length)
Evaluation of signal integrity of single ended and differential I/O (shielding, grounding)
Understanding of industrial ethernet communication (TCP/IP, EtherCat) and basic ethernet topology (switches, NIC, data rates)
Scripting knowledge for testing and debugging of device communication, e.g. Python in unix/linux environment.
Motion control knowledge (amplifiers, motor drives, encoders, safety IO)
Knowledge in the use and selection of vision systems a plus
Able to read and modify electrical system schematics and use troubleshooting equipment (scopes, logic analyzer)
Experience in FPGA development including test is a plus.
