Your key responsibilities

As an EY IT Senior Analyst, you will engage in discussions on the development of innovative software applications including areas such as software architecture design, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), cybersecurity, Blockchain and Distributed Systems, telecommunication, cloud computing and virtualization, data science and big data, and other high-tech fields with a host of industry leaders. You will be working with a variety of clients at the forefront of technology, from entrepreneurs to public corporations, to evaluate and help prepare their R&D and innovation-related incentives. Many of these incentives, such as the Research Credit, are aimed at encouraging companies to invest in innovation and research-driven activities in the United States. To avail themselves of these incentives, our clients are required to demonstrate their involvement in qualifying activities. As an EY IT Senior Analyst, you will assist our clients in documenting their qualifying activities by leveraging your software/computer engineering background along with your industry experience. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Utilizing your broad knowledge of current technologies during client meetings to identify qualifying activities across various fields such as software development, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber security, wireless networks, data analytics, defense, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
  • Drafting detailed technical descriptions/project narratives to document clients’ qualifying activities.
  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary group of accountants, attorneys, scientists, and engineers from across the globe.
  • Reviewing and providing comprehensive technical feedback on technical descriptions/project narratives prepared by more junior team members.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting our clients’ complex technical information such as design specifications, design documents, testing reports, etc., to extract relevant information and draw appropriate conclusions to help determine the qualifying nature of our clients’ activities.
  • Assisting our Tax teammates with IRS audits through the preparation of technical documentation and participation in discussions with IRS engineers and scientists.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A STEM undergraduate or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in U.S. research and innovation-related incentives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently while simultaneously managing multiple projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Willingness to travel as needed and working in a balanced hybrid environment.

Ideally, you will also have

  • A Master’s degrees in information systems, science, engineering, green incentives, accounting, valuation, business administration or law, or a Professional designation in at least one of the following fields: Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP); Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) from the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE®); Engineer in Training (EIT); Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM) Certification; Professional Software Developer (PSD) Certification; Project Management Professional (PMP)® from Project Management Institute (PMI); or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • 1+ year of experience in software industry.

What we offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $80,700 to $133,300. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $96,800 to $151,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
