The Business Risk and Control Manager is a strategic professional who is able to understand complex business issues, design remediation plans that are defendable to independent parties and align with Citi’s Global Risk and Control framework. This role is responsible for overseeing assessment and standardized reporting Europe/UK Commercial Cards Risk and Control Environment. The role requires strong understanding of Risk & Controls frameworks, Citi Policies and regulations and credit card product.

What you’ll do:

  • Strengthen and create consistent In-Business Risk and Controls Program for Commercial Card at a Cluster level.
  • Supervise the Issue Management and Resolution Process for Commercial Cards at Europe/UK Cluster. Ensure the identification of issue root cause, partnering with control and process owners to recommend holistic corrective actions and improvements, provide check and challenge to ensure appropriate escalation in according with Issue Management and Escalation Policies.
  • Provide Strategic Risk advise to business management when decisions are made.
  • Help contribute to governance and the facilitation of the execution of the Manager Control Assessment (MCA, i.e. Risk & Control Self-Assessment) as required by the MCA Standard including the assessment and appropriate approval of risk associated with business changes.
  • Support teams in the quality, completeness, and accuracy of the implementation of the Control Framework, including Risk Control Policy, Control Standard, Issue Management Policy, Lesson Learned Policy and Control Inventory.
  • Support Regional Commercial Cards teams with Internal and external reviews
  • Help contribute to the Lessons Learned Policy, including monitoring of control breaches and dissemination and learnings across other business units for process improvement to limit the occurrence of similar future events and where similar risk exposure might exist.
  • Support in dealing with Operational and Compliance Risk in accordance with established Policy requirements.
  • Assist in performing a detailed analysis to identify, assess, escalate, and manage risk exposures across Risk Categories (Operational Compliance, Strategic, Reputational, etc), including material, emerging and concentration risks in accordance with enterprise Policies and the establishment of Key Indicators to monitor risk exposures.
  • Assess, with management, the risks associated with New Activities and changes to the Business, ensuring these are well understood and adequately controlled.
  • Apply knowledge of the business, products or services to identify and implement control points and processes throughout the business.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

What we’ll need from you:

  • Significant experience within Credit Cards and Risk Management, Compliance or other related functions.
  • Risk/Control and second line and/or audit background is preferred.
  • Strong experience in a related role with experience in credit cards business with proven abilities in taking responsibility for executing concurrently on a portfolio of high-quality deliverables according to strict timetables.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of senior management and self-confidence to drive decisions across the various partner.
  • Ability to work effectively and drive results with a virtual global team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills Ability to comprehend the big pictures with high attention to critical details.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategy and process improvement initiatives.
  • Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent, Master's degree preferred.
