New Product Introduction (NPI) Manufacturing Engineering
- Interfaces with design (mechanical and electrical), process, test, reliability supply chain, sourcing, and logistics teams to solve production problem issues and identify improvements in product design and manufacturability.
- Interface with suppliers, sourcing, and design teams for development of standards, processes, and instrumentation (SPI) and qualify external production materials
- Develops and sustains process improvements to reduce production costs and increase yields
- Makes recommendations for changes in the selection and application of components, materials and systems. May propose changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability
- Creates, reviews, and updates assembly and work procedures to ensure standardization and in documented to meet specifications
- May lead work with other teams on process improvement initiatives
- Will drive communication, understanding, and ownership as it relates to process improvements and requirements for new product introduction
- Identify testing opportunities to ensure higher line productivity and higher yield due to a greater ability to meet product requirements.
- Provide feedback regarding BOM structure including manufacturing requirements for strategic assembly design
- Ability to analyze prototype and production data to develop root cause, understand process control limits and out of control processes, determine and understand failure modes
- Develop process improvement fixtures through the use of CAD and ability to then qualify the fixture itself showing process cycle time improvements or cost savings
- Ability to develop production line setups for new products and platforms and build in improvements over the course of the project. This does include the analysis of the CapEx requirements and then submission of CapEx projects for approval
