What you'll be doing:

  • Develop and implement proactive strategies to monitor, analyze, and anticipate changes in government policies, regulations, and legislative activities that may impact our business operations throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, key decision-makers, and relevant stakeholders at local, regional, and national levels. Represent our organization in meetings, conferences, and industry events to advocate for our interests, influence policy decisions, and contribute to relevant discussions.

  • Monitor political and regulatory developments, assess their potential impact on our business, and provide timely updates and recommendations to senior management.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Compliance, Public Relations, Sales, and Marketing, to ensure alignment and coordination of government affairs efforts.

  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, position papers, and other advocacy materials to effectively communicate our organization's positions and influence policy outcomes.

  • Support the development of government relations strategies and initiatives to enhance our organization's reputation and brand image in the public and government sectors.

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on policy issues, competitor activities, and industry trends to identify opportunities and risks for our organization. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their professional development and ensuring a high standard of performance.

What we need to see:

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, Law, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in government affairs, government relations, public policy, or related roles, preferably within a multinational corporation or industry association.

  • 3+ years of leadership experience.

  • Strong network of contacts and relationships with government agencies, officials, and stakeholders within the Greater China region.

  • In-depth knowledge of the political, regulatory, and legislative landscape in China, with a focus on Beijing.

  • Proven track record of successfully influencing government policies and shaping the regulatory environment to support business objectives.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, with the ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with the ability to anticipate emerging issues and develop proactive solutions.

  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English, both written and verbal.
