Theerations of Align’s subsidiary in Costa Rica, working as business partner supporting the Costa Rica site leaders as well as other function leaders to achieve the company financial and operating target. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a blend of practical experience, strategic foresight, and effective communication skills, thriving in a dynamic and adaptable setting. Collaborating with the U.S. Corporate Finance and Accounting team, the role will be pivotal in upholding the precision and credibility of the organization's financial and accounting records, internal controls, and business information systems. This role will be part of Align Technology goal to deliver the next generation of clear aligners (Invisalign®) to our customers. Accounting/Financial Reporting

  • Supervise and coordinate daily accounting activities, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Prepare financial statements to provide management with timely and accurate financial information for decision-making.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial reports.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure adherence to audit requirements.as well as ensure compliance to tax laws in respective tax jurisdictions.

Business Partnering/Compliance

  • Provide business support to Cost Rica operation leaders. Review and rationalize the financial inputs for the annual operating plan and monthly forecasts, ensuring financial plans are linked with corporate objectives, and ensuring all inputs/assumptions are clearly documented and deadlines are effectively met. Provide all relevant bridges between financial forecasts to ensure changes are understood and make business sense.
  • Responsible for working capital management including AR collection and payment processing and controls
  • Implement and maintain an effective and efficient system of internal financial controls and maintain a qualified Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) certification
  • Establish local SO&Ps, maintain and update local policies to ensure compliance with Corporate Policies and recommend operational and/or control improvements.
  • Initiate business process changes that make processes more effective or eliminate manual workarounds, especially those related to finance processes.
  • Ad hoc financial projects
  • Provide leadership, oversight and mentoring to the Costa Rica Finance team. Manage and develop the team (see organization chart below) through performance management, skills development, cross training and succession planning.
  • Engages relevant knowledge base and resource expertise to get complete picture of business issue or opportunity, to ensure competence while providing professional support to the business
  • Responsive to changes in company direction by being able to adapt quickly.
  • Manage unexpected issue, leverage proper resources (internal/external) to seek for trouble shooting, minimize impact to business.

Typically:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Incorporated to the Colegio de Contadores Públicos de Costa Rica.
  • Bilingual English-Spanish
  • Strong understanding of fully integrated ERP system SAP. Knowledge of JDE is a plus.
  • Knowledge of USGAP.
  • Documented and strong knowledge of Costa Rican government “free zone” requirements and regulations.
  • 8-10 years accounting experience with mid to large U.S. publicly held companies with at least +5 years supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Working experience in a multinational company environment, with ability to operate in diverse cultures.
  • Advanced excel skills.
