We own software systems for generating a reliable, feasible and explainable Usage Plans for all the AWS Services. Our goal is to be able to simulate the usage plans with revenue, cost and efficiency implications in a faster, reliable and explainable way. Our main objective is to perform usage planning to create forecast which helps power all the AWS services physical infrastructure needs. As part of EC2 Core Platform, we aim to strike a nimble balance between capacity availability and utilization.
What we own:
Expanding planning models and systems for each AWS service in the fast-growing AWS product portfolio.
Finding out the optimal tradeoff between AWS service availability and fleet utilization.Automating tactical and strategic capacity planning tools to optimize for service availability and infrastructure cost.What you will learn:Forecast and planning management for the Cloud.
The internals of all AWS services.Functional Programming.Key job responsibilities
You will work directly with business owners, research scientists, other software development teams, and owners of major AWS services. This role requires an individual with excellent analytical abilities, deep knowledge of software engineering principles, as well as a passion for problem-solving. Ideally, you are comfortable with ambiguity and accessing and working with data from multiple sources.This position involves on-call responsibilities but since we don't own any direct customer facing services, the operational load is manageable.

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
