Job Description:
As an MTS 1, Software Engineer, you will architect and lead the development of backend systems, drive innovation, and mentor the team.
Your day-to-day:
- Demonstrate end-to-end ownership of features, projects, modules, and services that you and your team deliver in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Lead your team’s design and implementation of end-to-end solutions towards new payment experiences using various technologies.
- Optimize software performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks via monitoring, logging, and metrics to enhance the user experience.
- Act as a strong advocate for clean and scalable principles and practices in all areas, including coding, documentation, automation, etc.
- Be a champion of high-performing, secure, and reliable software services.
- Identify critical non-functional requirements for the work your team prioritizes (Availability, Security, Performance, Scalability, and Observability), and implement them with your team.
- Actively contribute improvements to our automated test strategies to enable speedy and reliable continuous integration.
- Guide continuous improvements to our build and deploy processes.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with all technical and non-technical partners and stakeholders (Architecture, Developer Experience, Product, Design, Analytics, Legal, Marketing, etc.).
- Conduct formal and informal code reviews, providing constructive feedback to team members to ensure code quality and adherence to clean and scalable coding principles.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and promoting a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry standards, tools, and technologies related to Data Infrastructure development, and DevOps practices, and drive their adoption within the team.
- Advocate for ways to avoid and remediate technical debt continuously.
- Participate in program planning, influencing the product and technology roadmap and driving outcomes.
What you need to bring:
- 6+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong emphasis on backend development in TypeScript and Java.
- Experience with modern data warehousing technologies (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Apache Iceberg) and has informed perspectives on their advantages, limitations, and how they fit into evolving data architectures.
- High proficiency and strong skills in Cloud Technologies, object-oriented, and functional programming, and familiarity with AWS Lambda, Dynamo DB, and hands-on Typescript experience.
- Experience in building high-scale, high-throughput, low-latency systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills, possessing the ability to work independently or collaboratively to analyze and address complex technical challenges.
- Experience with modern software development practices, version control systems, and agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail, as well as a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions.
- Ability to mentor and up-level team members.
- Proven track record of collaborating with teammates in non-technical roles, such as marketing, finance, and legal.
