You will have knowledge of German marketing standards and processes and can apply regulatory and reputational risk assessment to all marketing activity. You will help implement controls, policies, procedures, and undertake training; conduct independent testing; investigate compliance risks and breaches; and support responses to regulatory enquiries for the marketing function. You will have sound judgement, curiosity and be able to adapt to a changing regulatory landscape across EMEA.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure customer communications in any form including [financial promotions] are clear, accurate and balanced so that consumers can make informed choices about our products and services.
- Review, challenge and provide guidance on financial promotions, marketing materials and other customer facing information, taking a proactive, hands-on approach throughout, and making recommendations regarding necessary edits.
- Provide compliance advisory services directly within the Marketing and Customer Experience functions in a rapidly developing business unit of the firm, working closely with other Marketing and Content teams to ensure an aligned approach as necessary.
- Provide a detailed understanding of regulations and how they relate to [financial promotions] and customer communications, keeping up to date on developments via horizon scanning, and implementing any regulatory changes required.
- Develop comprehensive policies, procedures, checklists and training materials, engaging with Legal and Compliance colleagues as necessary
- Advise on and inform the development of digital strategies where compliance is paramount, ensuring rapid delivery of compliant content in all areas, including marketing content through to in-app design/UX content.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders across other 1st line functions (e.g. Product, Marketing and Customer Experience) and 2nd line functions (such as Legal, Compliance, Global Financial Crime Compliance, Operational Risk and Technology Operational Risk) to ensure that we are providing great customer outcomes and meeting regulatory requirements.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Good knowledge of relevant German laws/regulations regarding marketing, distribution and customer communications (including, amongst others, the
Gesetz gegen den unlauteren Wettbewerb, Marktmissbrauchsverordnung, Telemediengesetz, Kreditwesengesetz, Wertpapierhandelsgesetz, Jugendmedienschutz-Staatsvertrag
and wider consumer protection law). - Hands-on regulatory experience (preferably 2 years+) of reviewing financial promotions across retail banking.
- Familiar with channel-specific marketing acquisition strategies including, but not limited to, email, display advertising, video, radio, PR, paid search, aggregators, influencers and social media.
- Good generic financial services product knowledge.
- Excellent written and verbal German and English skills.
- Strong team player with good interpersonal and excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - with a focus on both attention to detail and being able to make complex matters easy to understand.
- Must be self-directed, able to prioritise, positive, driven and effective in a fast-paced environment, and be able to liaise with senior business stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Knowledge of wider EU laws/regulation relating to marketing and financial promotions would be an advantage.
- Experience of working in a digital agile environment, and familiarity with modern tooling such as Jira and Confluence.
- Experience of reviewing financial promotions for consumer banking would be an advantage.
