The Senior SAP ABAP Engineer is a hands-on technical leader with 8+ years of SAP development experience, specializing in building and optimizing ABAP solutions across Finance Technology and enterprise systems. This role requires deep expertise in ABAP, SAP HANA, Fiori, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), with the ability to design modern, scalable, and compliant solutions that integrate seamlessly with SAP Finance and related applications.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Delivers complete solutions spanning all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) (design, implementation, testing, delivery and operations), based on definitions from more senior roles.
• Advises immediate management on project-level issues
• Guides junior engineers
• Operates with little day-to-day supervision, making technical decisions based on knowledge of internal conventions and industry best practices
• Applies knowledge of technical best practices in making decisions

Expected Qualifications:

• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Key Responsibilities

• ABAP Development Leadership : Design, develop, and maintain advanced ABAP programs, enhancements, and custom applications supporting Finance Technology initiatives.

• SAP HANA Expertise : Leverage HANA-native development (CDS Views, AMDP, SQL Script) to deliver high-performance solutions for financial systems.

• Fiori & UI5 Development : Build and extend SAP Fiori apps and OData services to enable intuitive, user-centric financial workflows.

• SAP BTP Integration : Develop and deploy applications on SAP BTP, enabling secure, scalable integration with SAP Finance and external systems.

• Solution Design & Delivery : Translate functional requirements into robust technical solutions aligned with governance and compliance principles.

• Governance & Compliance : Ensure development practices meet SOX, audit, and enterprise security requirements.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with FPSL experts, functional analysts, finance, and enterprise system teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

• Mentorship & Standards : Provide technical guidance, enforce coding best practices, and mentor junior engineers on modern SAP development.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP development , including ABAP Objects, enhancements, BAPIs, RFCs, BADIs, User Exits, and performance optimization.

• Proven experience with SAP HANA development (CDS Views, AMDP, SQL Script, data modeling, performance tuning).

• Strong knowledge of SAP Fiori/UI5 , including building and extending Fiori applications and OData services.

• Practical expertise with SAP BTP (Cloud Foundry, CAP, Integration Suite) for developing and deploying scalable enterprise applications.

• Experience with Finance modules (FI/CO, FPSL, or related) and integration with external systems.

• Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOX, audit readiness) and secure coding practices.

• Background in payments or banking industry systems preferred.

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to operate as both a hands-on engineer and technical leader .
