The Systems Engineer in Optical Network is responsible to provide requirements and contribute to the architecture of Nokia products. Transfers customer requirements or strategic business / technology objectives into testable system requirements. Specifies management interfaces for Network Automation group or SDN controllers. Cooperates with architecture, design, development and validation teams to ensure that system requirements are understood, implemented and verified. Supports customer documentation team. Supports problem resolution from internal findings and external customers and recommends corrective actions.
• Writes and maintains system requirements and external interface specifications.
• Analyses customer features and captures business, operational, technical, and non functional requirements.
• Contributes to feasibility studies.
• Aligns with architects, developers and validation to ensure the deliverable is in line with the specific requirements.
• Responds to feature definition and requirements clarification questions from the development teams in a timely and effective manner.
• Interfaces with product management, architects and other experts to define appropriate solutions.
• Supports product maintenance as technical expert.
• Supports customer interactions as technical expert.
• Supports customer documentation team as technical expert.
• Develops and recommends corrective actions.
• Contributes to continuous improvement of systems engineering process and related tools.
• Expert in optical transmission technologies such as WDM, OTN, Ethernet.
• Some basic knowledge in L2 switching and legacy transmission technologies like SDH/Sonet.
• Familiarity with alarm management and performance monitoring processes as defined by ITU-T.
• Knowledge about network management interfaces like SNMP, Netconf/Yang, CLI and TL1 and skills to augment and adapt existing models.
• Understands that security aspects are an essential part of the overall development process, from defintion up to verification.
• Good understanding of relevant Standards organizations and recommendations of ITU-T, IEEE, IETF.
• Experience of writing requirements in an RDBMS like DOORS, HP ALM, R4J.
• Experience using version control tools (Git/Gerrit).
• Pro-activeness and analytical skills.
• Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Good interpersonal, teamwork, collaboration skills to work in multi-site and multi-cultural teams.
